My why…
My mom has always engrained in us to never take for granted the gift of an ordinary day. One of the ways in which she taught us to do this from a very young age was to simply count our blessings. That quickly turned into making an ABC thankful list. It’s as simple as taking a piece of paper, writing down the letters of the alphabet, and then writing something we’re thankful for beside each letter of the alphabet.
Applying this practice in my life has personally been one of the greatest treasures to me. It’s taught me to give thanks…
on the great days (A- Amazon delivered the present and saved me a trip to the store, B-best friend came in town, P-pool party with the cousins,)
on the hard days (C- CFA drive through so I didn’t have to cook, F-family close by to help with the kids when something came up for work, H- home to crash after a long day)
on the days where I’m utterly exhausted starring at legos all over the floor and a sink full of dishes (L-legos on my floor means kids were home to play, S-sink full of dishes means I had food to cook for my family)
It’s taught me to make lists to celebrate people on their birthdays. It’s such a way to honor someone. When a loved one has passed, it’s been a gift to handover a list to their family to help remember their legacy.
Simply put…gratitude changes everything.
This project been stirring in my heart for several years, but the details of it all were just too overwhelming. However; through a series of events, it’s been very clear that the Lord has said NOW, so I’m simply walking in obedience and sharing this new segment of MCP with you for however long it lasts.
While showing thanks and expressing gratitude is appreciated across all people and cultures, the heart behind IN ALL THINGS stems from this Scripture.
“I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33
